I spent yesterday morning getting to know my new Macro lens (Nikor 105mm, VR). I must say, I'm a bit surprised at the versatility of it. I'd also say, though I'm no expert on equipment, VR (Vibration Reduction) is a must in any lens I might add to my collection. The pics of the pups yesterday were also taken using this lens, as were the these ...

Thanks to the Palms and Ferns, there's still something with color to shoot out in our yard. We might not have gotten any snow, but it was a cold winter for us, with many frosts. Lots and lots (LOTS) of pruning to be done (great exercise, anyway). Got a good start on the front yard yesterday afteroon and now it's time to get back out there again ...
Enjoy your day!

Hi Chrissie, just took a little time to pop in and see whats up. I realy like the palm an the fern, Macro lense's are great at cutting down a lot of background clutter, and giving the effect on the fern as though it's to defined to be real. I recomend a tripod and some foil reflecters in the shade, for some dramatic shots, and lighting. Luv Diane & Jamey
I agree - I really do need to discipline myself on using a tripod. I enjoy the freedom of hand held, but there is costs in sharpness. Glad you liked the Palm - Auntie emailed that she liked it as well. Glad you stopped by :)
Hello!
Thank you for commenting my blog.
You posted many good shots.
In this serie, overall,I like the third one.
Hello, Andrea! Visiting your blog was a pleasure; thanks in return for visiting mine :D
nice shots!! can't wait to get my new camera. for my big b-day in aug. i'm getting me a nikon. which one do u have??
Congrats in advance rdl! Woo-Hoo! I've got a D90, my friend Vicki has a D5000 - both great cameras! Two recommendations: foremost, make sure it comes with a VR (Vibration Reduction) lens! Little extra cost - huge diff - well worth it(Esp if you're not married to a tripod)! Second, the 18-105mm VR is a great all-around lens that will likely keep you happy for a long time. Vicki's came with a 18-55mm and it really limited her shots.
Is your current camera a Nikon? I ask because I had a series of Nikon CoolPix prior to my D90 and the menus are the same format - which makes learing a lot easier. Check out the Nikon website - they have lots of cool info and an ultra cool lens simulator tool ...
