Happy Halloween!

I had to send my D90 in for repairs; sigh. Being that I'm a well known and very accomplished procrastinator, I was tempted to stay the course and wait until after our friends annual Halloween Party to send it in.

Then I thought about Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years ... and knew I could quite easily find myself in the new year, still dealing with the pesky error codes (that have cost me some great shots - Grrr!).

So, in lieu of the multitude of fabulous pictures I took (in my mind) at at the party last night, I'll share some photos that at least represent the colors of the holiday ...

Flowers in Rosi's Garden (NC)

Wasp on Orchid (Our Yard)

Happy Face Balloons (Murphy, NC)

Happy Halloween Everyone. I've got to go get cleaned up ... Tugboat is wanting to go Trick or Treating!

A Trace Behind

Best Friends,
Great Loves,
Inspiring Moments ...
All Leave a Trace Behind

Marshfield. MA  ~ Summer 2010

Nature rules all ... or does it?
The wind has long since carried this feather away,
and the mighty Atlantic will have washed the lines from the sand,
but no force of nature can ever erase memories we hold dear.

Rest in peace, Wendell

Busy Bee

Pretty little,
busy, little, bee,
from flower to flower,
so care free,
pretty little,
busy, little, bee.

Itsy Bitsy Spider

I'm not a fan of spiders (Eeek!); but I do find them fascinating - in their own environment, of course!

This photo took several attempts, because he's actually quite
tiny and kept "disappearing" into the woods behind him.
I finally managed to contort myself into a position that
put the gravel path behind him and, viola!

I'm not sure if this cocoon is holding something waiing to emerge, or a spiders' snack for later

Roots ...

Being able to find a common thread brings upon oneself a sense of peace and belonging ...

My Nana & Grampy on their Wedding Day, 08/27/1949
that's Auntie (Nana's sister) holding the train of her dress;
the photo was taken by my (late) great-uncle, Freddy, Mary's then husband,
who was a professional photographer.

the Church today ...
Our Lady Help of Christians,
Newton, RI

during which the very same organ was played,

And the same Alter was approached,
as was for my cousin's wedding this past summer ...

Missy & David, 08/07/2010

Interestingly enough, the first service ever held in this church
was also in the month of August, though in the year of 1874!

The Girl On The Horse

A follow up to the intriguing girl on the handsome white horse ...

Here with her beau (my Grampy), in Hampton Beach, 1947.
A short time later they'd be married.

.

I love their body language and the cool car in the background

I took this "picture of a picture", as well as the previous one, using my D90 (no flash);
and was quite impressed with the results. So much easier than borrowing/scanning/returning!

Nana and Hoo-Rah!

My Nana is, hands-down, the coolest person I know on this planet (and I feel fortunate enough to know a lot of really cool people)! Therefore, I find it no surprise that I've always been fascinated with this photo; of this beautiful, confident girl, on what can only be described as a heroic white stead ... My Nana!

My Nana, whom I've always known to be the epitome of cool, calm, collective; and all the same, I can't help but long to know this girl - at the very moment this image was captured  ...

Nana & Hoo-Rah!

And that is what keeps photography intriguing; the possibility of getting that one shot that leaves someone wanting more ...

Treasures In Our Backyard

I couldn't begin to guess how many times I've walked our backyard, but I can tell you that it never fails to inspire me ...

Mya & Cierra

Another fun collage, featuring my ever willing subject, Mya, and her beautiful aunt, Cierra.

Pure. Happiness.

Mya and Her Green Balloon

I love the simplicity of this collage. All background distractions removed; just Mya in her bright yellow shirt, having a great time with her green balloon ...

Old Glory & company

The American Flag always makes a good subject - assuming there's a breeze; which seemed to be toying with me on this day. Patience was easy to come by though, sitting there on the porch of our rented house in Duck Key, in the company of great friends. My friend Vicki gets credit for the idea of a b&w background.
